The Beastie Boys will go down in history as one of the top rap groups of all time. They are my #1. You can listen to license to Ill and Pauls Boutique pretty much all the way through. Both albums are filled with great songs. I challenge you to name another rap group that put out two records like that.

Top 10 Rap groups of all time...I am not ready to rank them but your top 5 are pretty good. Does BPD count? It was really KRS. What about Erib B and Rakim, GangStarr or Kid N'Play? I wouldn't put any of them ahead of your top 5 and yes, PE DOES deserve to be mentioned in the top 5 for sure. I listened to some Chuck D just the other day and no one made rap as meaningful as he did.
ReplyDeleteWu-Tang should be in there somewhere. As individuals they were all pretty good but as a group they were even better. M-E-T-H-O-D MAN!! C.R.E.A.M. is one of the best rap songs of all time. Also, you have 2 albums by the Fugees or a member of them on your top albums so maybe they should be mentioned? Naughty By Nature/Tribe Called Quest/EPMD and even Salt N Peppa round out the top rap groups of all time for sure.
